Key Guidelines on Grievance Redressal Mechanisms

To swiftly resolve complaints related to services, schemes, benefits, and administrative gaps concerning local self-government institutions, the following mechanisms can be utilized.

Method 01

Block Panchayat Front Office / Complaint Cell

Complaints can be submitted directly at the Block Panchayat office. The standard procedure is to receive the complaint and forward it to the concerned officer or standing committee.

Method 02

Public Grievance Redressal Mechanism

Grievances regarding services, schemes, welfare benefits, and administrative lapses related to local bodies can be raised through the respective local institution.

Method 03

Local Self Government Department Online Portal

Complaints can be filed and tracking information regarding the status of complaints can be accessed through the online systems of the Local Self Government Department (LSGD), Government of Kerala.

Method 04

Complaint to President and Secretary

When submitting a written complaint, include the subject, incident details, requested remedy, and relevant documents. Make sure to keep the receipt or tracking number.

Method 05

Further Actions / Appeals

If no action is taken within the stipulated time, higher authorities such as the District Panchayat, Local Self Government Department, District Officers, or the Ombudsman can be approached based on the nature of the issue.

Method 06

Right to Information (RTI)

To obtain details regarding what action was taken on a complaint, where the file is currently located, or what decision was made, an application can be filed under the RTI Act.
