🏛 Establishment

  • Formation: Ettumanoor Block Panchayat was officially established on 1 April 1996 as part of Kerala's Three-Tier Panchayat Raj System.
  • Location: The Block Panchayat is situated in Kottayam Taluk and covers an area of approximately 142 square kilometres.
  • Jurisdiction: The Block Panchayat includes the Grama Panchayats of Athirampuzha, Aymanam, Kumarakom, Neendoor, Thiruvarppu, and Kaipuzha.

👥 Elected Body

  • The Block Panchayat consists of 13 elected wards (divisions).
  • The President and Vice President are elected from among the 13 elected members by majority vote.
  • Reservation is provided for Women and Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) in accordance with the provisions of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act.

🏢 Official Wing

  • Block Development Officer (BDO): The BDO serves as the Secretary of the Block Panchayat and functions as its Chief Executive Officer.
  • Other Officials: Officers from departments such as Agriculture, Agricultural Development, Social Welfare and other line departments assist in planning, implementing and monitoring various development programmes at the block level.
